Artist biography
Things I consider beautiful nourish my soul!
I am certain that my appreciation for all things beautiful stems from my upbringing and experiences. As a youth I grew up in a rural area of New Jersey where long walks or bike rides were often part of my day. My parents' passion for nature, architecture, antiques, art and books had a tremendous influence on me as well. As a young adult I was fortunate to travel and live in France as an au pair absorbing the beautiful French culture and landscape, all the while shaping my own personal aesthetic. Thereafter, Opening a home furnishings boutique was a dream I had finally accomplished in which I searched for and presented beautiful, unique adornments for one's home. I spent countless hours joyfully arranging vignettes emanating the beauty of each handpicked object. Changing course I became a full time mother to my two sons, Cole & Joshua. Years later When the children became school age I was in fervent need of creating beauty. It was then I once again mixed my passion for beauty with business creating Studio Colette.
My gift, and we ALL have one, is my aesthetic. Anyone can take a photograph indeed. Yet it is my vision, my soul, that decides which tree, flower, vase, fabric, object, arrangement, to shoot keeping in mind the details of perspective, light, angle and mood. It is my foresight, which determines how I compose my photograph, so that it embodies the canvas into what I consider a beautiful fine art piece.
I am about to embark on my fourth year of exhibiting in the many venues I've explored and looking forward to venues I've yet to try. My art shows & exhibits have had continued success throughout PA, NY, NJ and CT placing my work throughout the United States and Europe via my patrons. My acquired award ribbons are now up to five.
When a viewer of my work yields a breath of delight, a gasp of excitement, an expression of joy or simply lingers, quietly taking in my work...I know I've touched their soul and for this and often a sale...I remain considerably grateful!
Thank You to all!
